
Meet Veronica
Veronica Ray Carr is a director, screenwriter, and playwright from Atlanta, Georgia. They obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Television and Film Production with a minor in Playwriting from Howard University in 2022. In 2024, Veronica gained a Master of Arts in Film Production from Solent University in Southampton, England.
They write coming-of-age queer love stories, family dramas, and gothic tales from the Black South, as well as various genres of short stories centering young Black women and gender non-conforming people. Through deep character studies and hyper-realistic world building, Veronica writes to understand the meaning of life and what connects humanity.
Veronica’s goal is to be a working writer/director that brings authentic stories about marginalized communities to the big screen. They believe that through their films and words, they can connect to others and start important conversations that foster growth. Carr’s most recent short film, Forever Ago, was chosen as an official selection for the OFN Film Festival in London.
